Chapter 18. SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AND DISPOSAL

Accumulation of solid waste is a much bigger problem that recycling. Popular approach to it while focusing on municipal services is missing one crucial point, and this is our individual contribution to generation of solid waste. And here again we run into plastic problem. If you are serious about making positive adjustments in your life contributing to solving environmental problems, managing your solid waste can be a good place to start because it is: a- critically important; b- easy to identify, to measure, and to monitor; and c- it is a challenge difficult to handle.
